RedWood TCM Newsletter
January 15, 2012
Yikes! Its been a little over a year and a half since RedWood’s grand opening at our office in the Fifth Street Market. I was thinking it was time to update the newsletter, but this is ridiculous.
The practice continues to grow. New patients and friends are finding their way to our door. Currently the Market is all decked out in its traditional Christmas fashion.
New at RedWood TCM are our line of Hammer Nutrition Products. These nutritional and performance supplements are not only for the serious endurance runner or cyclist. Supplements like Tissue Rejuvenator have proven helpful to all patients with joint pain issues. Likewise Digest caps, PSA caps and REM caps have helped patients with digestive problems, male prostate issues, and disturbed sleep patterns. You can use the link to Hammer Nutrition for further information on all of their products. These are available at our office.
Chinese herbal formulas by Blue Poppy Herbs are also available at our office. Chinese medicine is built on a consideration of the effectiveness of both acupuncture and herbal medicinals. Blue Poppy Herbs is one of the most reliable quality suppliers of Chinese herbal formulas available.
RedWood TCM is now an affiliate of Acupuncturists Without Borders. With the help of my staff I maintain a free clinic every Thursday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Eugene. Treatments are directed to any veteran seeking acupuncture treatment for PTSD, and for people seeking acupuncture treatment for addiction recovery. Treatments are free and require one hour of the patient’s time. The church is located at 1166 Oak Street.
Another important addition to treatment modalities at RedWood is Kinesio taping.
I am now a CKTP (certified kinesio tape practitioner). The tape allows for more rapid recovery from injuries, especially post-acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture, massage and kinesio taping offer an extremely effective way for athletes, as well as anyone else who may experience muscle/tendon trauma, to a rapid and safe recovery.
On a health awareness note, the sirens of the marathon have been calling. After a timid start at running in the Eugene Marathon’s 5k event back in May of 2010, I ran the Hood River Marathon in October of last year. That was a raw test of will against the elements that took quite a physical toll on my body. I trained to recovery and ran the Eugene half-marathon in May. Encouraged by the results of that race I next ran the Portland Marathon last month. It was the 40th running of the Portland Marathon, and it was a marvelously well-run event. There are more to come.
A coming addition to the newsletter will be Doc Cho’s words of wisdom on maintaining a healthy life style through diet, exercise, and a Happy Buddha smile.
Chinese Medicine is a complete health care system. I enjoy speaking to groups who have an interest in knowing more about the subject. I shared information on the subject and on my approach to practice with church groups, substance recovery groups, and elder citizen groups. I will happily consider any invitations to speak that are presented to me.
I wish you all health and happiness.
